Editor’s Note: The following was submitted by the Westwood Historical Society.
For its first program of the year, the Westwood Historical Society will present Christopher Daley, via Zoom, on Tuesday, Jan. 12, from 7:30-8:30 p.m.
Daley has lectured all over New England on historical topics. In this program, he’ll share his knowledge about the Pilgrims and their landing at Plymouth Rock.
The first part of the talk will examine the difficult voyage over the Atlantic, the trials and tribulations that the Pilgrims met when they first arrived in the New World, and the help they received from the Wampanoag Nation.
The second part will focus on the beginnings of Plymouth Rock: the building of the first colony and the plague of 1618 that obliterated almost 100% of the village.
Daley is currently a history teacher in the Silver Lake Regional School System in Kingston. He holds a B.A. and an M.A. from Bridgewater State University in political science and history. Daley is the author of several articles on varied historical topics for local publications and has written his first book, “Murder and Mayhem in Boston: Historic Crimes in the Hub.” Daley has also been on Travel Channel’s “Time Traveling with Brian Unger” and the Learning Channel’s “Kindred Spirits.”
This program is sponsored by the Westwood Historical Society – in collaboration with the Westwood Public Library.
