The Turkish company Karpowership (of the Karadeniz Energy group based in Istanbul) is in the final stages of contractual negotiations with Electricité d’Haïti (EDH) for the deployment in Haiti of two floating power plants (Powerships) with a total capacity of 115 Mw aiming to serve Cap-Haitien 24/24 [36 Mw] and improve distribution in the metropolitan area [79 Mw].

Michel Présumé, the Director General of EDH underlined that these 2 power plants on barges will double the capacity of EDH.

The barges will be installed in 2021 and the generators will initially be fueled with heavy fuel oil “with the intention of switching to Liquefied Natural Gas (LNG) before the contract expires,” Karpowership said.
